At this site in 1883 Martin Warren constructed a residence and opened a blacksmith shop at the corner of College and East Gay Streets and referred to it as "Warren's Corner."

The Missouri Legislature organized Johnson County in 1834 and two years later, 1n 1836, a post office was established. In 1837 "Old Town Warrensburg" was platted.
