This monument memorializes the V-12 program. Initiated during WW II to help fill the need for leadership in the United States Navy, the Navy College Training Program, or V-12 trained officers from 1943 to 1945 on the UCM campus. Over one thousand trainees completed training at UCM, then went onto a four-month midshipman's training before serving in the Navy.
