Martin Warren not only sold land for the city of Warrensburg to be established; he also served in the Revolutionary War at Valley Forge under George Washington as a 18 year old private in the Virigina Continental Line before heading west to this area with the deed to the 80 acres he was paid for fighting in the Continental Army.

All of the other veterans buried in this area of Sunset Hill served in the Civil War.
