Johnson County Courthouse, 300 N. Holden, was built in 1896 at a cost of $50,585.00. It has been struck by lightning at least four times, twice before 1928, once in 1940 and again in 1945. Notice in the northeast corner of the square the tribute to those who served in the military and lost their life in WW I, WW II, Korean, Vietnam and to the present.
